Happy Wednesday, SLC! We’ve officially made it. The days are getting longer, the tulips are peeking through in Liberty Park, and the first day of Spring is just 48 hours away.
While we love a good Utah winter, the freeze-thaw cycle can be brutal on our homes. Before you fire up the grill or head out to the trails, take 60 minutes this weekend to tackle these three "Spring Survival" hacks. Your home (and your wallet) will thank you!
đź’§ Hack #1: The Sprinkler "Wake Up" (Don't Turn the Knob Yet!)
It’s tempting to turn on your secondary water the second the sun comes out, but wait! Most Utah experts recommend waiting until mid-to-late April (or even May) to actually start watering.
The Hack:Â Instead of turning the water on, do a "Dry Run" inspection. Walk your yard and look for heads that were cracked by the winter deep-freeze or shifted by snowplows.
Pro Tip:Â Schedule your sprinkler start-up service now. By April, every tech in the Salt Lake Valley will be booked out for weeks!
🏠Hack #2: The Gutter "Waterfall" Test
With the heavy snowpack we had this year, your gutters likely collected a lot of shingle grit and debris. As those spring rain showers hit, clogged gutters lead to one thing: basement flooding.
The Hack:Â Use a garden hose to run water through your gutters. If it pools or overflows, you have a clog.
The "Dime Test": While you're at it, check your foundation. If you see a crack wide enough to fit a dime, it’s time to seal it before the ground gets saturated with spring runoff.
🌬️ Hack #3: The AC "Deep Breath"
You haven't thought about your AC since last September, but in 2026, we’re expecting a quick jump into warmer temps.
The Hack:Â Go outside and look at your condenser unit (the big metal box). Remove any "winter blankets" or covers, and use a hose to spray off the dust, salt, and dead leaves stuck in the fins.
Why? A clean unit runs up to 15% more efficiently, saving you a fortune on those first few cooling bills of the season.
Thinking of selling this Spring? The 2026 Spring market is officially heating up! Curb appeal starts the moment the snow melts. If you want a personalized "Spring Readiness" assessment for your home, Leave us a message.
